Lately... Updates on #1221FilmChallenge

A little life update + status on my #1221FilmChallenge where I made one short every month in 2021:

I have been looking for a new apartment since mid FEBRUARY, to no avail, and it's been an absolute major QUEST these last few weeks especially. Currently crashing with friends while waiting to hear back from multiple leasing offices on the status of my applications... Living out of a suitcase containing only my hard drives, laptop, and a few changes of clothes while my sweet cat is being cared for by great friends in the city and all of my possessions sit in a Uhaul. Please send positive energy that this will all be over soon. If I owe you an email, phone call, or drink I'm going to need a few business days to get my situation sorted out and thanks for your patience 🤡

Despite this blip in my personal space time continuum, I woke up this morning and learned that FOUR of my shorts are going to be screening across the country in the next two months!!! I'll be sharing updates about that once I get the 'OK' from programmers with information and screening times - Los Angeles, NYC, and New Jersey let's ball out :)

Three of these shorts I made as part of my #1221FilmChallenge where I made one short every month last year. It was an extremely challenging thing to do, but so worth it as I am telling stories I'm deeply passionate about sharing with people. I've grown tremendously as a producer, actor, director, and person from this experience and am so grateful for all the talented creatives who I was fortunate enough to collaborate and work with. I'm looking forward to seeing how far each film goes, to sharing laughter and possibly some tears with audiences as these stories hit the big, small, and digital screens. My grandfather Marian has supported me over the years with my favorite saying of his, "pas cu pas", which translates to "step by step". No matter how big or small the step, one must continue forward. "Pas cu pas" has been my mantra and guiding light.

When 2021 was over I took a break for a few months to gather my thoughts and re-center my energy. Rest was *majorly* needed, though I am a pretty restless person and have found the break to be more challenging than the film challenge itself lol! I'm working on new projects again, but pacing myself more fairly this time to ensure I take all that I've learned last year and applying it forward.

I fly out on Friday to San Francisco to screen Poets Are The Destroyers at The Makeout Room on Sunday. If you're in the area I'd love to see you and giggle over a drink about the ridiculousness of life right now: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/poets-are-the-destroyers-film-screening-w-director-nancy-pop-in-attendance-tickets-322956681127

(shoutout to Sam Wilson for this image; I'm still figuring out how to rock this new style but whenever I look at this picture I feel great 😇)
